At the 1995 NCAA Dr. Pepper Invitational Basketball
Tournament, Jarrod was awarded an "All-star Student Athlete Award"
by CBS Sports commentator Jim Nantz. Jim Nantz is best known for
commentating the NCAA basketball tournament and National Championship
games. Following the banquet, Jarrod's life began to take a different
turn after personally spending time with Jim Nantz at the host hotel
and receiving an autograph that read, "Jarrod, thanks for being
a good role model." "Being a good role model" not only became the
desire of Jarrod's heart, but an intense desire for today's youth,
particularly young men. Since 2000, Jarrod has been a full-time
speaker who has stood before tens of thousands of youth empowering
and inspiring them to live lives that expresses honor and respect,
solid values, self-control, and right choices. In addition to school
